Prior to starting his PhD Adrian enjoyed a varied career. As an active performer, composer and instrumental tutor for many years, Adrian gained a BA (Hons) in Music and an MA in Compositional Studies along the way. Adrian has scored soundtracks for several short films, some of which have gained nominations and awards at various national film festivals; including the 2008 BAFTA hosted Satyajit Ray Short Film competition. Adrian moved into teaching; coordinating music courses at an further education college and more recently managed a multi-media training programme for disadvantaged, and disaffected young people, which was awarded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2008. Part of his on-going creative work functions under the banner of Transpose Media: A film and media production company that specialises in issue based work with groups of young people.
